Rain Dove, the model dating Rose McGowan, has spoken out about giving police text messages in which Asia Argento allegedly said she had sexual relations with a minor in 2013.

In an interview with Today, the 28-year-old model denied leaking the texts to TMZ saying, “I just wanted them to be a part of the legal process going forward.”

The above is my official statement regarding the Asia Argento case. Before you read. I know many people are upset, confused, and angry right now. It wasn’t an easy thing emotionally to report to the police. I’ve met Asia’s kids, seen them during a process of mourning, and watched the admiration roll in from individuals inspired by the #MeToo movement. Knowing that much may be taken away from them in the name of revealing truth was gnawingly upsetting. But the truth is the key to justice. To healing. To solving. It needs to be free. I had hoped to keep my name out of the press and conversation for this incident and simply let the justice system take its course- and allow Jimmy to have the tools they were Being denied to speak their story. But too many people got hurt in the silence. So here it is. The truth. Friend. Blood relative. Acquaintance. Whatever- when it comes to a crime of which an individual has been assaulted and is a victim we can not have bias in doing what’s right. For those of You who are afraid to come forward I love You. I believe in your strength. Please don’t be silenced You could save a life. #EqualGround #lettruthlighttheway #asiaargento #jimmybennett #lovewins #lgbtq #memes #MeToo #weareone

“When it became apparent that they were not going to allow for justice to occur or for the truth to be on the table, I knew I had no choice but to go forward because otherwise I would be complicit and I would be robbing another inpidual of their ability to be heard in their story,” Dove said.

Argento, 42, was accused by musician and actor Jimmy Bennett, 22, of having sexual relations with him when he was 17 in 2003 — which she has denied.

I love you. Wholly. Expansively. With the entirety of my being. No matter what you’ve done, where you’ve been, or how you’ve been- I love you. Every moment is a clean slate from right now. And now. And now. And now. And now. And now. And now, now, now. AND this love is granted to you without need for reciprocation. You don’t have to approve my lifestyle, find my body attractive, feel that I would be someone you would want to sit next to on the bus- it doesn’t matter. The love exists for you and you are not alone the moment you read this because I am here existing in this dimension with you and I care about your ability to acquire food, shelter, water and physical safety. Together- we are. #IamYours #EducateDontHate #BeingABeing #openmind #Lgbtq #genderqueer #genderfluid #genderisthematrix #TheseTitsDontJudge 📸@alexgeana

“I’m not anti-Asia or anti-anything,” said the gender-nonconforming model, who was introduced to Argento by McGowan shortly after the death of Anthony Bourdain in June. “I just believe Jimmy Bennett deserves to have justice and I believe that due process deserves to have it.”

Dove released an official statement on Instagram Wednesday, writing it was “important to not over glorify or sensationalise [sic] the actions of any inpidual who comes forward with evidence because it is the basic thing one should do.”

The model confirmed the texts released to police, writing, “While the conflict may feel murky- the situation is cut and dry. An inpidual admitted to sexual engagement with a minor (according to the age stated by California) which is an illegal act that can qualify as statutory rape.”

In one of the texts Argento sent to Dove, TMZ reported she allegedly wrote, “The public knows nothing, only what NYT wrote. Which is one-sided. The horny kid jumped me.”
